The staff of Aura's Spring 2009, Volume 35, Issue 1 book is
Editor-In-Chief: Nathan Prewett
I've been on the staff for two years, and after the issue I will be stpping down and handling it to another staff member. I will still be working with the student media in other areas
and will still get to see the wonderful process of creating a literary arts magazine. In my tenuer as editor in chief, I've seen so many works of creativity
it's almost overwhelming. It's been a great run, and i'm thankful to have been a part of the staff of Aura Literary Arts Review. I'm going to miss it.

Art Director: Alyssa Mitchell I am excited to return to the Aura staff this semester
as the art director after contributing to the magazine since my fi rst semester in college. Art has played a large role in my life since I was small. It sure
didn’t hurt that I lived on the same street as my art teacher for my fi rst ten years. It is my privilege to introduce to you some of Alabama’s fi nest artists,
many of whom attend this school.

Poetry Editor: Ashley Jones I began working as poetry editor for Aura last semester, and
I have truly enjoyed it. Perhaps the most interesting part about leafi ng through submissions is the paper on which the poems are printed. I have opened
envelopes to see notebook paper with hurried scribbles: proof that writing is, indeed, an urgent matter. Thoughts are so often speeding through our minds, and our slow
hands cannot keep up. I hope that I can continue working with the magazine and encounter more work that reminds me of why I choose to do what I do – write and read and write some more.

Fiction Editor: Jonathan Scott
I have worked as the fiction editor at Aura for two and a half years. During my time
on the staff, I have enjoyed the responsibility of reading the hard-work of writers as they hone their craft. As I writer myself, I take the job very seriously. I know how
important the opportunity to get published can be to an up-and-coming artist, and I treat each manuscript with the same careful consideration that I would expect from an
editor reading my own work.

Faculty Advisor: Tina Harris As a former Aura editor and contributor, I am honored to work with
the Aura’s current staff. Aura’s staff is dedicated to showcasing the creative work of UAB students alongside the work of nationally known artists and writers.
The new magazine style of the journal is just one of the many ways that Aura seeks to enliven this artistic forum.
